My car insurance was cancelled after a claim – what should I do?

According to Art. 42 of the Insurance Contract Act (VVG), both the insurer and the policyholder may terminate the contract after a claim.

This regulation is set out in the General terms and conditions of insurance (T&Cs), Art. A3 para. 4.

Do I have to re-register my vehicle?

Yes. Be sure to note the deadlines in your cancellation letter.

Your vehicle must be insured with a new insurance company in good time so that you can continue to use it on the road.

📌 This is how you proceed:

1️⃣ Get a new quote
2️⃣ Take out insurance
3️⃣ Update your vehicle registration → Register the new insurance with your cantonal vehicle licensing office so that your vehicle remains registered.
