My car insurance was cancelled after a claim – what should I do?

According to **Art. 42 of the Insurance Contract Act (VVG)**, both the insurer and the policyholder may terminate the contract after a claim. 

This regulation is set out in the [General terms and conditions of insurance (T&Cs), Art. A3 para. 4](https://www.simpego.ch/dam/TCs_Simpego_Car_en.pdf).

###### Do I have to re-register my vehicle?

###### Yes. Be sure to note the deadlines in your cancellation letter.

Your vehicle must be insured with a new insurance company in good time so that you can continue to use it on the road.

2️⃣ Take out insurance
3️⃣ Update your vehicle registration → Register the new insurance with your [cantonal vehicle licensing office](https://strassenverkehrsaemter.ch/) so that your vehicle remains registered.
