# My pet falls ill while I am abroad – what now?

### **In this case, the Personal assistance provided by your **t**ravel insurance will cover you if:**
* your **pet travelling with you or staying at home** falls seriously ill or has an accident
* the person responsible for looking after your pet falls seriously ill or dies

#### **✅ Possible benefits:**
* Coverage of **unplanned return travel costs**
* Coverage of additional **accommodation costs**
* Coverage of **additional transport, accommodation and food costs** for your pet

📌 **Important to know:**
* You are responsible for organising everything (e.g. animal transport or care) – the insurance covers the costs within the scope of the coverage.
* All benefits in connection with an insured pet are limited to a **maximum of CHF 5,000 per event** (including costs for you as the insured person).

### **🐾 Are veterinary costs abroad covered?**

❌ **No.**

Travel insurance does **not cover Healing costs for pets** (i.e. no veterinary treatment abroad).

If you also want to cover veterinary costs abroad, you need **pet insurance with the ‘worldwide cover’ option**.
