# When does my insurance start and how long does it last?


### 🕒 Insurance cover begins:

✔ Cover begins at the time specified in the insurance contract.

✔ Cancellation costs insurance only applies if it was taken out before the trip was booked.

✔ Other insurance benefits apply from the start of the contract, provided the premium has been paid.

### 📆 Duration & renewal:

### ✔ Travel insurance is valid for one year and is automatically renewed if it is not canceled.
