According to Art. 42 of the Insurance Contract Act (VVG), both the insurer and the policyholder may terminate the contract after a claim.

This regulation is set out in the General terms and conditions of insurance (T&Cs), Art. A3 para. 4.

Do I have to re-register my vehicle?

Yes. Be sure to note the deadlines in your cancellation letter.

Your vehicle must be insured with a new insurance company in good time so that you can continue to use it on the road.

As a rule, we electronically send your insurance certificate to the competent cantonal road traffic office within a few minutes of concluding the contract.

You do not need to take any further action – the certificate is transmitted automatically after the contract has been concluded.
