How is FlexDrive billed after cancellation?

If you cancel your mileage-based insurance – or simpego notifies you of the cancellation of your policy – the cancellation date is the cut-off date for the final bill.

This works as follows:

1. Effective date = cancellation date

As soon as the road traffic authority confirms that you have surrendered your number plates or switched to another insurer, your contract ends – we will no longer count any kilometres from this date.

2. Last mileage

a) Notification ≤ 10 days old → we will charge exactly this mileage.
b) No notification/notification too old → remaining kilometres are estimated = average km/day in the current insurance year × missing days

Example:

Cancellation as of 13 September
Last notification covers kilometres up to and including 1 September → missing period 2 September–13 September = 12 calendar days.
With an average of 30 km/day, this amounts to 30 km × 12 = 360 km.

3. Last charge

Your credit card will be charged one last time with

  • the actual or estimated kilometres driven up to 13 September
    and
  • the pro rata share of the fixed premium
    .

4. Exception: maximum amount

In the first insurance year, in the event of partial or total loss, you pay the contractual maximum amount (minus any premiums already paid). This amount will be invoiced – not charged to your credit card.

5. Important

We cannot take into account mileage reports whose reporting date is after the cancellation date.

💡 Quick tip:

Report the mileage in the app immediately before returning the vehicle – then you are guaranteed to only pay for the actual kilometres driven. 🚗✨
